The term Abba Taqel was first used by H.I.M Haile Selassie I, Emperor of Ethiopia in the 1935 invasion of Ethiopia by Italy, as the Password for the Ethiopian Army. Abba Taqel is Geez, an ancient language that preceded Amharic, which means “the power is god”.

The Nzuri Market sell African jewellery, clothing, bags and handicrafts. All items are handmade, mainly using natural and recycled materials. Everything is sourced directly from small-scale traders and artisans in Kenya. We are sharing Kenyan style and creativity with the world.
