Celebrating Community and Culture: Black Brighton Market’s Nomination for ‘Event of the Year’

We are thrilled to share some incredible news about the Black Brighton Market! Thanks to all of you wonderful supporters, we were nominated for the prestigious ‘Event of the Year’ category at the Brighton Girl of the Year awards, hosted by the fantastic City Girl Network. What an honour it has been to be recognised alongside so many other epic events that truly represent the vibrant spirit and creativity of Brighton.

The award night took place on the 287th of March, a date that will be etched in our memories. The atmosphere was charged with excitement, as we celebrated not only our nomination but also the diverse array of talent and innovation present in our beloved city. It was a night filled with inspiration, camaraderie, and a shared love for everything that makes Brighton the unique and dynamic community that it is.

The voting process was quite the journey itself! Initially, the public had the chance to vote and help narrow down the nominees to the top 10. From there, the selection was further whittled down to 5 finalists, before the final decision was handed over to a judging panel. Being part of this process was a thrilling experience, and we are immensely grateful to everyone who took the time to vote for us.

While we didn’t take home the award this time, the nomination has given us a huge confidence boost. Knowing that our community believes in what we do is the greatest honor of all. The Black Brighton Market was born out of a desire to celebrate BIPOC culture and support local artisans, and being recognised in this way reinforces the importance of our mission.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who nominated us and supported us throughout this journey. Your belief in our vision fuels our passion and commitment to make the Black Brighton Market an even better experience for everyone. We are excited to continue growing, evolving, and celebrating the rich diversity of our city.

Our founder – Jade Hylton – was the winner of Brighton Girl of the Year 2024 and nominated this year, so she had the opportunity to talk about Black Brighton Market its impact, and her hopes to continue her activism in uplifting the creative BIPOC community in Brighton.

Stay tuned for more events, collaborations, and opportunities to connect with your community through the Black Brighton Market! Together, we can create an even brighter future for Brighton. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey with us!
