On July 27th, St Anne’s Well Gardens became the vibrant heart of Brighton as it hosted the much-anticipated BARCO BASH. This lively event brought together a rich tapestry of activities, attracting families, friends, and community members to enjoy a day filled with fun, entertainment, and local culture.

With our third collaboration for the BARCO BASH, the Black Brighton Market showcased eight fantastic vendors who offered a diverse range of products. From artisanal crafts to fashion and beauty, these vendors drew in crowds eager to support local businesses and celebrate black entrepreneurship. The market not only provided an excellent platform for these vendors but also enhanced the overall atmosphere of the event, turning the market into a bustling hub of activity. The traders included, Caribella, Diva Choice, Candle Queen, SALVAGED BERMUDA, Tinkerbel Creates, Chidi3s Art, Afrostall and Melanin World Plus.

In addition to the market, BARCO BASH featured an array of attractions that catered to all ages. The holistic area offered wellness activities, including yoga sessions and workshops that encouraged mindfulness and relaxation. The kids’ area was a hit, providing engaging games and activities that kept the younger attendees entertained while their parents enjoyed the various offerings of the event.

Food lovers were not left out, as a selection of food vendors presented an enticing array of Afro-Caribbean culinary delights. The aroma of delicious dishes wafted through the gardens, enhancing the festive spirit and offering attendees a taste of the community’s rich cultural diversity.

The event was punctuated by performances across three stages, showcasing local talent that included musicians, dancers, and spoken word artists. Each performance was met with enthusiastic applause, creating a lively atmosphere that resonated throughout the gardens. The scheduling of these performances was seamless, allowing attendees to enjoy a variety of acts without missing out on their favourites.

The weather on that day was perfect, with clear skies and a comfortable temperature, allowing families and individuals to comfortably enjoy all that BARCO BASH had to offer. The careful planning and coordination that went into organising the event paid off, as everything ran as scheduled, contributing to a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.

In conclusion, BARCO BASH was not just an event; it was a celebration of community spirit, creativity, and local entrepreneurship. The success of the Black Brighton Market, combined with the engaging features and perfect weather, made this day one to remember. As the sun set over St Anne’s Well Gardens, it was clear that BARCO BASH had succeeded in its mission to bring people together, celebrate diversity, and showcase the talent within Brighton. We look forward to more events that continue to foster this sense of community and celebration in the future!
